Why Have a Website?
Having a website is an important addition to your business, not only does it show you're a professional forward thinking company, it could make the difference between you or your competitors getting new business. Whether, you're a multi national company or a small business targeting the UK, when business has finished for the day, a website can be continually working for you 24 hours a day.
If we may give you an example of what an incredible marketing tool a website can be. A few years ago we hired a venue to celebrate our marriage in New Zealand with family and friends. From the company website we were able to look at photographs of the venue from all angles. Decide on what buffet option we fancied, choose wine and pay a deposit. All contact was made via email; we never spoke to anyone or saw the venue, until we arrived two months later!
The owner must have blessed the day that he decided to hire the web designers and a professional photographer to show off his venue to its full potential. We're not suggesting that you shouldn't speak with your client, this is probably a rare example, but how else would we have managed to do that. We would probably have relied on a brochure to be sent to us from NZ and family to book it on our behalf.
If your business mainly provides information, a website can significantly free up time spent on the telephone and can also reduce the cost of sending out information by post, again saving time and money. If you want to promote products that you sell, or a service you provide you can do this to the whole world if necessary. A website is open for business even when you aren't. It's probably the most cost-efficient form of business communication that you can invest in. If you want to be taken seriously then a professional website is a must.
Not only can a website take your business to a wider audience it can also give your clients an insight into your business. They can establish whether you provide the service or product they require. A website can also show that you're credible and can instantly gain a persons trust, just by explaining what your business is in a professional and concise way.
The facts are, that so many people now turn to the web to look for services, businesses and to buy products online and it is growing! Don't get left behind!
If you would like some friendly advice we will endeavour to answer all your questions without obligation.

How to get your website up and running.
There are three stages to getting a website up and running. You will need the following:
Domain name - The name you want to call yourself. Ie: www.yourname.co.uk or www.yourname.com.
For example our company domain name is www.stickytoffee.co.uk.
The first thing you need to do is decide on a name and check if the domain name you require is available.
We can search for you or you can search online at: www.toffeehost.net.
If the domain name you require is available, you can purchase it online or we can do this on your behalf. At Toffeehost a domain name registration costs £12 for a .co.uk and £24 for a .com. this covers a 2 year period.
Hosting - This is the computer file-space you rent to store your website.
All websites have to be hosted, in order to be seen on the web. To describe this further, it's like renting space on a bank of secure computers, which are running 24/7.
The cost for hosting depends on what your requirements are, we can help you to decide what would be right for your company. ToffeeHost prices start from only £57 per year.
Website - This is your shop front this is what potential customers will see on a computer screen. Prices start from £450 for a small professional builder site. (Usually 4 pages depending on content).

How we work.
Here at Sticky Toffee we pride ourselves on our customer service, we have met the majority of our clients in person, which gives us an insight into the character and nature of the business and helps us to create a website which is both professional and appropriate.
When we visit our prospective clients a briefing document is filled in, this takes about an hour. This is a very important part of the process, as it tells us about your colour and style preferences, what will be supplied and what we will need to source, is there any company branding to be adhered to, and so forth. The briefing document is not only crucial to get to the heart of your business, it also allows us to provide an honest estimate of how much the job will cost.
After the meeting
An estimate of work is sent within a week of the initial meeting.
If you are in agreement and would like to work with us, then a deposit of 50% is required before work on the websitecommences. We will aim to start working on the website within 1 week of the deposit being paid.
If any domain names, hosting or shopping carts are required these will need to be paid in full before work on the website begins.
During Working
Whilst working on the website you will be contacted regularly if required, for comments and approval as the website progresses. If the site is large then we will update you once a week with a progress report.
On Completion
On completion of the site, you will be provided with a disc containing all your website files. We will also review and see if any last minute changes need to be made.
